• A NEW DUKE!

This past Wednesday 608 welcomed it's newest staff member! Angeline Nelson took the oath, signed the papers, and is now an Officer Cadet (OCdt) with our squadron. 
However, OCdt Nelson is not new to 608. She was a cadet herself in our squadron just a couple years ago. We are excited and look forward to working with her!

NO Range this Sunday!

Wednesday 29 February 2012 is a Squadron Sports and Drill night. PLEASE dress appropriately.

The Squadron trip to Hamilton is fast approaching.
Trip dates are Monday 12 March - Tuesday 13 March (During March break).
An information letter and parental consent form were sent home with cadets Wednesday.
The trip is capped at 35 cadets as this is all the bus can hold.
Cost for ALL cadets is $25.00. 
All forms and money are due Wednesday 7 March 2012
**The previously stated amount of $50.00 for cadets who have not sold a book of OPC lottery tickets has been amended**

The Winter FTX was attended by 27 Dukes this past weekend. Capt Dixon is looking forward to hearing
stories from all cadets... the pictures look great.

THERE ARE ONLY 15 BOOKS LEFT!!!!  Please see Capt Dixon for your book - $50.00 for 1 book of 20 tickets, you sell them, and the $ 50.00 that you collect is YOURS!! Therefore the book you pay for is paid off.
The Squadron benefits from your time not your $$$.

• WEDNESDAY 15 FEBRUARY 2012 IS THE BELLEVILLE BULLS GAME!!!!
  

Cadets are to meet at the Yardmen Arena Entrance (265 Cannifton Rd) on Wednesday 15 February 2012 at 6:00 PM to receive their ticket. Cadets are asked to pay only $5.00 to cover a portion of the ticket cost. Cadets may also bring extra spending money if they wish to purchase items from the canteens/concessions.
DO NOT WEAR YOUR UNIFORM - you may wear appropriate civilian clothing.
DO NOT GO TO THE ARMOURIES WEDNESDAY - THERE WILL NOT BE ANYONE THERE!!!!

The Belleville Bulls will be playing The Ottawa 67's
Game Starts at 7:05 PM

The bus for the WINTER FTX is now leaving the Armouries at 0700hrs (7:00 AM)!!!! 
CADETS AND STAFF MUST ARRIVE AT THE ARMOURIES THIS SATURDAY AT 0630hrs (6:30 AM) FOR KIT INSPECTION AND ATTENDANCE.

Congratulations to Cpl Bone who received his "Distinguished Marksman" Classification Wednesday night!
All 4 Range Team members have this classification. Let's take it to Nationals!!

Wednesday night WO1 Kurkoski retired from the Cadet Program as he has officially aged out. Cadets said their "goodbyes" and enjoyed a special ice cream treat as part of the 'ceremony'. The Squadron has now been left in the capable hands of WO2 Ahearn and WO2 Robinson.

15 February 2012 - Cadets will be attending the Belleville Bulls Game! We are only asking $5 for ticket price. Cadets may bring extra spending money to purchase items such as food, novelty items, etc. Please arrive the the Yardmen Arena (main entrance - facing Cannifton Rd) for NLT 6:00 PM.
DO NOT GO TO THE ARMOURIES!!! NO ONE WILL BE THERE AND DOORS WILL BE CLOSED!!!

Any Cadets who have not submitted the permission form for the Joint Winter FTX must do so This Wednesday, 15 February 2012 in order to participate. Click HERE for details on the FTX.

This week we will be saying goodbye to one of our fellow cadets... 
Warrant Officer 1st Class Adam Kurkoski will be retiring from the cadet program as he officially ages out this weekend. Kurkoski served with 608 RCACS for just over 7 years. However, Kurkoski will not be quitting his cadet career, He will continue to support our squadron by keeping the website up to date and hopefully return as a Civilian Volunteer and continue on from there.

• "I loved every last minute of it! I wish I could do it all over again. I plan on staying with  the cadet program throughout my life; it's a great experience for everyone, no matter how old you are. I think everyone should be a part of the cadet program in some way" - WO1 Adam Kurkoski
