We would like to wish all our Staff, Cadets, and their families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Wednesday 18 December we had a wonderful turkey dinner with all the fixings. Our guest of honour was former Warrant Officer 1st Class and Squadron Commander of 608 Squadron (August 2013), Second-Lieutenant (2Lt) Connor Ahearn. He gave an inspirational speech to all the cadets to encourage them to go for their dreams and to never give up, no matter how hard it may seem. 2Lt Ahearn completed both the Glider and Power Pilot Scholarship Courses, offered to cadets during the summer months, before he officially aged out of the Cadet Program in August 2013. Only six days after completing his Power Pilot Scholarship, he was sworn in to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) as an Officer Cadet in the Royal Canadian Air Force through the Continuing Education Officer Training Plan (CEOTP). He has since completed his Basic training and is now based at CFB Trenton working toward becoming a transport pilot flying the C-130 Hercules. Any cadets who have questions about the flying scholarships, cadets, or joining the CAF can email 2Lt Ahearn at [email protected] Wednesday 18 December, 608 Duke of Edinburgh Squadron will be hosting its annual Christmas Dinner between the hours of 1730 hrs (5:30 PM) to 2100 hrs (9:00 PM) at the Belleville Armouries.
(All cadets must arrive at the armouries No Later Than 5:45 PM) The dress for the night will be C-8 (Mess) Dress for cadets. C-8 (Mess) Dress is the same as C-1 (Ceremonial) Dress; however, a White Collared Dress Shirt and Black Bow-Tie replaces the Uniform Dress Shirt and Necktie. The Wedge is not worn. Click HERE for details. Please Note: The White Collared Dress Shirt and Black Bow-Tie are not issued and must be obtained at the cadet's own expense.
Wednesday 11 December will be a Sports Night.
Cadets are reminded that every Training Night (Wednesdays) isMANDATORY ATTENDANCE. If a cadet cannot attend a Training Night for a valid reason, the cadet MUST notify the Administration Officer (AdmO). For more details on how to notify the AdmO, click HERE.
Due to a recent reduction in funding affecting cadet clothing, all cadet units are no longer able to order new uniform pieces until further notice. We are trying our best to meet all uniform needs.
